OrthoLazer Policy on Glove Use in Patient Care
To protect both patients and staff, OrthoLazer clinicians must follow CDC Standard Precautions regarding glove use.
Gloves are required in the following situations:
- When handling or changing any post-operative dressings.
- If there is a possibility of contact with blood, drainage, or other potentially infectious material.
- When skin integrity is compromised (patient or technician).
Gloves are not required:
- For routine laser therapy when treating intact skin with no risk of contact with body fluids.
Best Practice:
- Always perform hand hygiene before donning gloves and after removing them.
- Use a new pair of clean, disposable gloves for each patient and each dressing change.
- Never reuse gloves between patients or between tasks
