Trochanteric Bursitis is a challenging condition to treat as it is often refractory to physical therapy and bursal Cortisone injections. In addition, the risk of tendon tears in the gluteus medius/minimus sometimes outweigh the benefits of repeated steroid injections. Dr. Asheesh Gupta, founder of OrthoLazer Woodbridge, has developed a laser therapy protocol to improve treatment and his patients are experiencing significant relief. “Trochanteric Bursitis is a condition I see often in my practice. My treatment goal is to help control pain and inflammation while keeping my patients mobile. I am finding success with the combination of one Cortisone injection followed by 12 laser therapy sessions and sometimes physical therapy to address involved structures, including ITB stretching and dry needling. I also recommend Laser Maintenance Therapy as important for avoiding future flare-ups.”
