Improving PRP Outcomes Using Laser Therapy

In the rapidly evolving field of regenerative medicine, a promising area of interest is the synergistic application of Photobiomodulation (PBM) and Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP). In particular, the potential to improve PRP treatment outcomes with the use of laser therapy.

This study, led by Hernán Pinto and Elena Sánchez-Vizcaíno Mengual from the Instituto de Investigaciones Biomédicas i2e3 in Spain, offers a comprehensive review of how these cutting-edge tools can be integrated into orthopedic practice. For all providers committed to adopting the most advanced treatment modalities, understanding the implications of this study is pivotal in optimizing outcomes in tissue regeneration and repair.

An introduction to PBM and PRP's combined effects provides a foundational knowledge base that could revolutionize current treatment protocols and pave the way for future innovations in orthopedic and pain management care.

Dr. Scott Sigman, CMO shares these best practice recommendations for enhancing PRP with M8 MLS Laser Therapy:

  • Refer patient for 6 laser treatments after PRP
  • Beginning laser the same day as PRP is acceptable
  • Complete all 6 laser treatments within 2 weeks ideally
